PLZ Corp is the North American leader in specialty aerosol and liquid product manufacturing. The PLZ family of companies specializes in the development, manufacturing, packaging, and distribution of a comprehensive line of contract fill, branded and private-label products. We formulate, blend, fill and package more than 2,500 branded and private label products includingcleaners and polishers,industrial solvents,lubricants and degreasers,adhesives,sanitary supply disinfectants,insecticides,air fresheners, andpersonal care productsfor home and industrial use.

We are hiring a Category Managerto lead B2B and/or B2C strategic marketing planning driving tactics that support category growth and develop and execute brand and product support plans across all elements of the marketing mix. The role will function as a critical link between the PLZ and our customers by turning insights and strategies into actions that unlock category growth. This position will work in a team environment with a focus on managing and delivering solutions to lead future industry growth to our internal partners and external retail and B2B customers working with various cross-functional departments.

Category Development

  • Research industry trends, benchmark data, understand cost drivers and emerging technologies.
  • Develop brand and product positioning and strategy, manage product launches, and gather customer insights.
  • Craft brand and product messaging and positioning documents that serve as the keystone for internal and outbound sales assets, marketing programs, web copy, packaging and sales presentations.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the organization, helping to develop and modify our product launch roadmap based on customer and user feedback, as well as market and competitive trends.
  • Work closely with sales and marketing teams to maximize the ongoing performance of the core range of the category's product portfolio, drive consistent distribution growth and effectively deliver the category plan.
  • Create customer specific presentations to endorse PLZs capabilities, product offering and innovation.

    Category Analysis

    • Analyze sales data, identification of market shifts/trends that impact the business, and creation of actionable insights specific to individual category capabilities.
    • Proactively develop tools and templates to simplify the analysis process as well as the output to the sales and marketing teams.
    • Ad-Hoc business reporting as needed to answer time sensitive questions.

      Category Management

      • Develop and implement marketing and product development plans to realize category growth based on consumer and customer requirements that are in line with the category vision.
      • Lead internal teams to launch key features and products to the market, including building sales plans, campaigns and a launch plans.
      • Partner across internal marketing team to ensure programs are executed per category direction.
      • Lead category marketing programs to achieve defined go to market goals, track and evaluate impact, manage timelines and budget.
      • Craft and influence data-backed, differentiated narratives for our products. Work closely with Design and Product Development teams to build a differentiated and compelling product offering that solves critical pain points for our customers.
      • Develop and execute short term and long-term strategies for the assigned category.
      • Enable our Sales teams to sell products to the market through trainings, coaching and materials.


        • 5+ years of experience in category, brand and product management
        • Manufacturing industry experience a plus
        • Retail, contract packaging and distribution industry knowledge
        • Analytics and insights including Nielsen
        • Proven ability to turn data into actionable insights
        • Critical thinker with problem-solving skills
        • Results-oriented, data-driven mind-set, and strong business acumen with product categories
        • Outstanding time management skills with multi-tasking capabilities and impeccable attention to detail and accuracy
        • Ability to display strong technical, interpersonal and analytical skills
