Job Description:
Job Summary:
- This individual will lead the SAP implementation in the
inventory control function as Hearthside continues to rollout SAP
across the enterprise. In the inventory Control area you will lead
the development and implementation of new SAP functionality. You
will create and execute excellent training programs. You will
create robust testing protocols and scenarios, you will create the
required data to perform testing and execute testing in cooperation
with the business. You will provide guidance to the organization on
best practices. You will lead and participate in events related to
cutovers, you will generate ideas for improving business processes
through the use of SAP, and lead projects to successfully implement
the ideas. You will provide 2nd and 3rd tier support for SAP
support issues. You will be required to work weekends during SAP
launches and on call for support issues.
- The ideal candidate is a business user that has experience in
Inventory Control in a manufacturing environment and has become a
power user of SAP within their job function. Advanced knowledge of
manufacturing and logistics processes is required. This role is
typically NOT a good fit for a consultant.
Job Duties:
- Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lead implementation efforts for SAP functionality for assigned
functional areas.
- Lead the development and implementation of new SAP
functionality.
- Create and execute testing programs.
- Create and execute training programs.
- Establish best practices for business processes related to SAP,
and lead the organization to implement them.
- Develop and load master data and configuration in support of
SAP projects.
- Lead and/or participate in events related to cutovers and
go-lives.
- Generate ideas for improving profitability in the organization
through new SAP functionality. Lead projects to implement those
ideas.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd tier support for SAP support issues.
- Define and recommend system security setup for assigned
functional areas.
- Strive to learn SAP functionality in other functional areas,
and deepen knowledge in assigned functional area.
- Create functional specifications for proposed SAP changes to
communicate specifications to technical and programming
resources.
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating
Procedures, and Safety Regulations consistently.
- Work occasional holidays and weekends during project
cutovers.
Required Competencies & Knowledge: Knowledge of:
- Detailed, expert knowledge of SAP transactions in
Inventory.
- Expert Knowledge in both IM and WM transactions.
- Expert investigative abilities related to material movements
and material documents.
- Knowledge of SAP master data related to assigned functional
areas.
- Knowledge of SAP transactions in all functional areas.
- Expert knowledge of business processes in assigned functional
areas.
- Knowledge of business and supply chain processes in all
functional areas.
- Knowledge of training principles.
- Knowledge of testing principles.
- Knowledge of system security principles.
- Detailed knowledge of business processes in manufacturing.
Ability to:
- Support the business with skilled SAP knowledge in assigned
functional area.
- Understand, resolve and explain complex transactional
errors.
- Compile and execute excellent training programs.
- Compile and execute excellent testing programs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve SAP issues in assigned functional
area.
- Recognize impacts to processes outside of assigned functional
area.

Work Environment:
- Work is primarily done in an office setting.
- Some production environment exposure which includes noise,
dust, moving machinery, fork lifts, and fluctuations in
temperature.
- Significant travel required. During implementations travel will
be approximately 75%.
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting at a work station for extended periods of time
- Stand, walk, climb stairs on a frequent basis
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds on an infrequent basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1+ years' experience with SAP as a power user in one or more
functional areas.
- 4 year degree is preferred.
