Group Marshall Investigative Group (MIG) is a nationwide
investigative firm providing research and investigative services
across a wide range of matters, including allegations involving
monetary loss, bodily injury, theft, intellectual property, and
property damage arising from civil litigation, due diligence, and
other complex investigations. Role Summary The Research
Investigator (RI) develops actionable intelligence, identifies and
documents relevant evidence, and delivers clear, defensible
findings that support case strategy and informed decision-making.
The RI manages multiple active investigations, prioritizing work
based on investigative value and deadlines set forth by management,
and analyzes information from diverse sources to assess
credibility, identify inconsistencies, and surface meaningful
insights. This role produces concise, well-documented written work
product that clearly explains findings and their relevance,
collaborates closely with investigative and client teams as
priorities evolve, and maintains responsiveness and case momentum
while operating effectively in a remote environment, including
non-traditional hours when required by investigative needs. Key
Responsibilities - Conduct investigative research to verify facts,
identities, associations, activities, timelines, and other
case-critical details. - Develop intelligence using open sources
and legally obtained records to identify leads, corroborate
information, and surface inconsistencies. - Gather, organize, and
document relevant evidence in a manner that is accurate,
defensible, and ready for reporting or downstream use. - Analyze
information from multiple sources, assess credibility, and
translate raw data into concise findings and recommendations. -
Produce clear written work product (updates, summaries, and final
reporting) that explains what was found, how it was found, and why
it matters. - Coordinate with investigative and case teams to align
research efforts with case objectives, shifting priorities as new
information emerges. - Operate effectively in a remote environment,
maintaining responsiveness and case momentum across non-traditional
hours when required by investigative needs. Qualifications -
Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related discipline (e.g.,
Sociology, Criminology, Legal Studies, Journalism, Public
Health/Medical field) or an equivalent combination of education and
relevant investigative experience. - Demonstrated experience
conducting investigative research and case-support work (e.g.,
investigations, claims support, risk management, compliance, or
related fields). - Working knowledge of OSINT (Open Source
Intelligence), including public-records research, identity and
relationship verification, and source validation. - Strong
analytical capability to evaluate complex information, follow
appropriate leads, identify inconsistencies, and draw defensible
conclusions. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
with the ability to present investigative findings clearly,
concisely, and confidentially. - High attention to detail to
develop leads, ensure accuracy, and maintain clean documentation
and reporting. - Ability to manage multiple investigations
simultaneously, prioritize based on investigative value and
deadlines, and deliver timely work product. - High discretion and
professionalism when handling sensitive or confidential
information; demonstrated commitment to integrity and ethical
investigative standards. Preferred Certifications / Training -
Professional certifications or formal training in investigative
research, OSINT, or fraud-related investigations (e.g., CFE, CIFI,
