Related to the payroll aspect, this position will perform a variety of duties related to the processing and auditing of payroll. Related to the accounting portion of the job, this position will perform accounting duties including journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparing financial reports. May require travel to our Glendale Arizona campus. This position will take direction from the Payroll Manager and Director of Accounting.

  • Prepare and process student payrolls for the AZ and IL campus
  • Assist with Adjunct bi-weekly payroll which includes entering and reviewing Adjunct contracts, timecards and AZ sick time
  • Assist with IL and AZ payroll as needed including printing reports, auditing reports and resolving payroll discrepancies
  • Run payroll reports after payroll has processed and as needed for other departments
  • Answer employee questions and complete employment verification
  • Set up multi-state taxes
  • Record journal entries in the general ledger
  • Perform monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, including but not limited to bank account reconciliations
  • Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports
  • Assist in performing budget to actual analysis
  • Other accounting activities such as assisting in inventory counts, issuing refunds, and reviewing expense reports
  • Other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance related field. 3-5 years of previous accounting experience and at least 1 year of payroll experience required. Must be customer service oriented and self-motivated. Must have exceptional attention to detail. Payroll experience with Ultimate Software preferred. Computer Skills Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with Ultimate Software preferred. Language Skills Basic skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Reasoning Ability Intermediate skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Mathematical Ability Intermediate skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions and proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Experience Required 3-5 years: 3-5 years of previous accounting experience and at least 1 year of payroll experience required.
