And we will be 100% committed to helping you reach your full potential.Job Description -Our Downers Grove, IL laboratory is looking for a TEM Laboratory Analyst to join their team! - The TEM Laboratory Analyst oversees the daily production of a team of technicians and analysts in the laboratory, under the guidance of the TEM Supervisor. This position will lead by example and ensure the work being done by their team is completed in a safe, efficient and timely manner and is performed in compliance with SGS' Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). They are responsible for giving guidance to current employees as well as helping train new analysts and technicians.Job Functions

  • Coordinate workflow through the department to ensure turnaround times are met
  • Work with the Department Supervisor to manage staff and instrumentation resources to maximize sample throughput and ensure production targets are met
  • Lead by example when processing samples to ensure that the team follows the lab's SOPs
  • Use LIMS to ensure that samples are processed appropriately and update the samples' status in LIMS as required
  • Apply technical judgment to determine potential problems for samples processed by yourself or members of the team
  • Assist with preparation of spiking solutions, surrogate solutions, and other special formulation solutions
  • Help implement best practices in the laboratory to maximize operational efficiency and maintain data quality that meets or exceeds industry standards
  • Demonstrate good leadership through effective planning, delegating and empowering subordinates appropriately, and leading by example
  • Manage people and performance daily, acting quickly and decisively when required
  • Ensure staffing levels are appropriate for sample volumes and that staff are properly trained to perform their assigned duties
  • Work with the Departmental Supervisor to oversee hiring and training competent laboratory personnel. Assist with the training of new analysts to become productive members of the team
  • Ensure the lab's operating supplies inventory is appropriate for current workloads
  • Appropriately follow safety requirements for the work that is done and ensure that your team members are also following these requirements
  • Immediately address safety problems as they arise in the lab (i.e. hood use, safety glasses, methylene chloride handling) to minimize exposure and maximize safe practices
  • Actively promote a strong culture of safe laboratory practices and the maintenance of a safe working environment
  • Keep supervisory and management teams informed of any potential problems. Provide information to supervisory and managerial staff as appropriate on instrumentation, production, and staff issues
  • Performs other duties as requiredQualifications -
    • Bachelors degree in a science-related field, preferably Geology or other physical science and -4+ years of years' relevant experience equivalent education and experience (Required)
    • Candidate should be detail oriented, organized and able to work with a minimum of supervision (Required)
    • Great communication skills - both verbal and written are ideal (Required)
    • Must have experience with TEM (Required)
    • Experience working with a LIMS application (Required)
    • Experience training and mentoring other technicians and analyst. (Preferred)
    • Knowledge of EPA, NIOSH and OSHA methodology (Preferred)
    • Follows Company and Departmental SOPs to ensure accurate and repeatable reporting of results. (Required)
    • Adheres to the Quality Assurance Program, documenting and taking corrective action when necessary. (Required)
    • Successfully completes required training courses and in-house competency testing. (Required)
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) (Required)
    • Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on an occasional basis.
