DIRECTOR - STUDENT ACTIVITIESTRUMAN COLLEGETruman College's
Student Activities Director plays a vital role in fostering a
vibrant, inclusive, and engaging campus community. This position is
responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing a wide
range of student programs and events that support student
engagement, leadership development, and campus involvement. The
Director collaborates closely with student organizations, faculty,
staff, and community partners to create meaningful co-curricular
experiences that enhance student life and support the institution's
mission and values.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directs, supervises, and recognizes student organizations,
focusing on organizational structure, goals, financial affairs,
publicity, recruitment, and facility usage.
- Reviews operations of all student clubs to ensure compliance
with City Colleges of Chicago policies for recognizing and
maintaining a student club.
- Manages Ventra U-Pass for students, including eligibility
review, processing requests, distributing cards, and
troubleshooting issues, in collaboration with the Office of Student
Services and other departments.
- Serves as a hearing officer in dispute resolution meetings
involving student organizations, as the designee for the Dean of
Student Services.
- Maintains student organization files, including incorporation
documents, election results, and meeting minutes, to ensure proper
documentation.
- Reviews and approves student organization event requests and
purchase requests, both on-campus and off-campus.
- Supervises the Student Activities Center, overseeing all
student organizations and Student Government Association offices,
providing services and resources.
- Collaborates with the District Office and College staff to
develop materials that encourage student participation in
activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in
Higher Education, Student Personnel, Student Development, Student
Affairs, or a related field, supplemented by 3-4 years of
experience in Student Services, Alumni Relations, or a related
area.
- Self-directed, innovative, with the ability to assess current
operations and develop practical action programs to improve
departmental functioning.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and decision-making
skills for effective administration.
- Ability to maintain effective liaison among faculty, staff,
community, and students to promote responsiveness.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for
presentations and grant-writing.
- Ability to work well within a culturally diverse environment
with tact and diplomacy.This position is represented by the Local
1600 Professional Employee Union.The starting salary ranges from
$88,521.00 to $97,373.10, determined by collective bargaining
agreement and applicant qualifications.WE OFFER: Excellent health
