We are seeking an experienced project manager and environmental engineer or geologist to further grow our environmental services division in our Downers Grove (suburban Chicago), Illinois office. As an experienced environmental engineer or geologist, you will be involved with contaminated site assessment & remediation, in situ and ex situ remediation system design and operation, vapor inhalation assessment and mitigation design, groundwater management, and Brownfield remediation and redevelopment, while further developing business skills needed for a successful consulting career. Additionally, you will be asked to support with business and client development, take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and mentoring tasks. Essential Functions
Our ideal candidate shall possess strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to be flexible in relation to time management, and must be detail oriented. Key candidate qualifications for the experienced environmental engineer position include:

  • Designing, managing, and drawing conclusions from remedial investigation projects involving contaminated media (soil, groundwater, surface water, soil gas, and indoor air); projects will include both traditional field and sampling techniques and high-resolution characterization techniques;
  • Developing feasibility studies, remedial alternative evaluations, remediation cost estimates, and remedial action plans for soil, vapor, and groundwater remediation projects;
  • Designing and overseeing the implementation of projects using in-situ and ex-situ remedial technologies;
  • Performing remediation system operation and maintenance services as necessary;
  • Developing monitoring plans, performance criteria, and optimization options for remedial approaches;
  • Managing tasks or projects, including tracking project budgets, tracking project schedules, etc.; and
  • Assisting in the development of proposals and other business development activities.

    • Fieldwork: Up to 30%
    • Overnight Travel: Up to 15%

      Candidate Qualifications
      The ideal candidate shall possess strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to be flexible in relation to time management, and must be detail oriented. Key candidate qualifications for the junior-level environmental engineer or scientist position include:

      • BS degree in environmental engineering, civil or chemical engineering, or geology with an environmental focus. (required)
      • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
      • Five to 10 years of work experience. (required)
      • Licensed professional engineer or professional geologist certification (P.E. / G.). (preferred)
      • Project experience involving environmental remediation system design, including in situ remediation (i.e., ISCO, SVE, thermal, ISS) and excavation/disposal, remediation system installation, operation and maintenance, and system optimization. (required)
      • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
      • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (required), AutoCAD, fate and transport modeling, and GIS. (preferred)
      • Valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. (required)
